It's excluded from the Low Price Guarantee and, based on our research, from storewide and member sales too, so an Autobarn coupon for full-priced items won't take the price any lower. Stock is limited and varies by store.

Buy now if the clearance price already beats a typical storewide discount. If not, the regular line in a sale can work out cheaper.

With Click & Collect you buy online and pick up from your local store. Based on our research, pickup is free and orders can be ready in as little as 30 minutes if the item's in stock there, while home delivery adds a shipping charge.

You pay just the advertised price and get the part the same day, handy for a flat battery or a broken wiper blade. Skipping delivery saves most on batteries and bulk oil. Wait for the ready notice before heading in to avoid a wasted trip.

In-house installation experts at selected stores fit car audio, dash cams and other in-car tech bought from the retailer. Based on our research, past storewide and member sale terms excluded installation, so an Autobarn coupon code or event discount only cuts the product price.

On a bigger audio upgrade, fitting can be a sizeable share of the total, so the headline discount overstates your real saving. Get a fitting quote from your local store before you buy. Buying and fitting at the same store also keeps any later warranty claim with one business.

• The digital gift card on Qantas Marketplace earns points per dollar spent, and based on our research, boosted rates have appeared at times.

Buy the card before a planned sale and it earns points, then pays for discounted stock where its terms allow, so the same dollars earn and save.

The official eBay store is another place to buy, and based on our research some storewide events have run there too, sometimes with eBay's own platform offers on top.

We found, based on user reviews, that member promotions have only been valid on the retailer's website, so an Autobarn coupon from a member email is unlikely to work on eBay. Click & Collect on eBay orders hasn't always been free either. A lower eBay price usually wins on a one-off buy, while regular buyers may do better with points and member events.

Based on our research, the advertised specials in the online catalogue are usually excluded from storewide and member discounts, and in past events the catalogue price applied when it already beat the event discount, so an Autobarn coupon code is unlikely to take them lower.

The catalogue tends to hold the deepest single product discounts on things you buy often, like engine oil or batteries. Storewide events earn their keep on full-priced items that rarely feature there.
