The Gymshark app offers early access to launches and sales, app-only products, and push alerts for drops and promotions, and downloading it earns loyalty XP. Turn on notifications before a major sale, since app users hear about start times first, then check your wishlist once it goes live to see which saved pieces have dropped in price.

If your size is sold out, select it and tap "Notify Me" in the app (or enter your email on the website) to hear when it's back. No notification option means that size isn't planned for a restock. Waiting for an official restock beats paying more elsewhere and keeps you clear of the fake websites and social accounts that Gymshark warns about.

After your first order, you get a personal 'Refer a Friend' link. A friend who has never shopped with Gymshark gets $10 off a first order of $50 or more (excluding shipping), and you get an emailed reward within minutes of their qualifying order. Referrals are unlimited, but there's a cap on how many rewards you can earn in a set period, and rewards can change with current promotions.

Your friend can't combine the referral with the 15% welcome offer, and the two break even at $66.67. On an example $60 first order, the $10 referral wins, while on an example $150 order the welcome offer saves $22.50. Gymshark Loyalty is free to join. You earn 5 XP per $1 spent on the Gymshark website or app (excluding gift cards, shipping, taxes and fees), and XP moves you up four tiers rather than converting to cash. Each new tier brings a one off reward and keeps the perks of the tiers below.

• Tier 1 starts at 0 XP and includes a birthday reward, an anniversary reward, exclusive offers and early access.

• Tier 2 starts at 1,250 XP and adds a $10 reward, partnership discounts and priority access.

• Tier 3 starts at 3,000 XP and adds a $15 reward and exclusive access.

• Tier 4 starts at 5,000 XP and adds a $20 reward and an annual member reward.

XP expires 12 months after you earn it and tiers are reviewed every 12 months, so you need to keep earning to hold your place. Orders placed before you join generally don't count. XP from returned items is deducted, but a tier you've already reached stays.

With 100 free XP from email and text sign ups and the app download, Tier 2 takes about $230 of spending instead of $250, so the $10 reward works out at just over 4% back. Group planned purchases, such as a winter hoodie and new leggings, into one 12 month window so your XP counts before it expires.

The birthday reward is 15% off full-price items, emailed on your birthday and valid for 30 days. Join at least 7 days beforehand and enter the date carefully, as it can't currently be changed in your account settings. Use it on new season pieces rather than sale stock.

Reaching Tier 2, 3 or 4 triggers a single-use reward code that expires 90 days after it's issued. It works like any other Gymshark discount code, so it can't go on an order that already uses a student, athlete, or welcome code. If you cancel or fully return an order that used it, the code isn't credited back automatically, but Customer Support can issue a replacement through the chat widget. Expired codes aren't replaced, so set a reminder the day one arrives.

Standard delivery costs $10 (about 4 to 6 working days) and is free over $100. Express costs $15 (about 3 to 5 working days) and is free over $200. Discount codes can't be applied to delivery charges, and gift cards in your cart don't count towards either threshold. Express is barely a day quicker, so only pay for it when you need something by a set date. During big sales, Gymshark asks you to allow up to 14 calendar days before chasing an order, so buy well ahead of any event.

Returns are free within 30 days of delivery through the returns portal.

• Items must be unworn and unwashed with the small white care label attached, although the swing tag can be removed.

• Underwear, swimwear, bottles and personalised items can't be returned, and socks must be sealed in their original packaging.

• Faulty items don't need to be sent back, although photos of the fault may be requested.

• Exchanges are free for a different size of the same item only, and the new size isn't reserved, so it can sell out before your return arrives.

• If you used a discount code, your refund matches the price you paid, and the discount may be deducted if a return takes your order below the code's minimum spend.

• Refunds take up to 7 working days to arrive once your return is processed.

• Gymshark can't change a Klarna plan after a return, so ask Klarna to pause your payments, or you may keep paying instalments on items you've sent back.
