I have been part of CupoNation Australia as an Editor since 2022, updating Event Cinemas offers one to two times weekly and checking each code so Australians save with confidence. From what I found, the Cinebuzz program is worth signing up for. Members earn points with every ticket, which can later be swapped for discounted or even free movies, cutting down the cost of regular trips.
Event Cinemas started with the establishment of the first theatre in Australia, The Picture House, in Sydney. In 1989, it became the Greater Union Organisation, which later merged with the Hoyts Cinemas chain in 2003 to form the Amalgamated Holdings Limited (AHL). Event Cinemas is a division of AHL, operating under the Event Hospitality and Entertainment umbrella.
Event Cinemas is known for its state-of-the-art theatres and the go-to cinema outing venue for Australians. It offers a premium experience with advanced technologies like large screens, Dolby Atmos sound systems, and comfortable seating.

Take the whole family to the cinema without overspending. Cinebuzz members access reduced ticket pricing on select family movies scheduled prior to 5pm daily.
Cinebuzz Seniors members can access a special $36 Grandparents Pass on select family films before 5 pm. This pass includes original session tickets for 1 senior and 2 children.
Event Cinemas’ birthday packages start from $10 per child and include movie access, special ice cream cake, popcorn, drinks, and hot food for groups of 10 or more. It’s an affordable way to celebrate with entertainment and treats all in one place, making planning easier and more fun.
The free Event Cinemas app helps you manage bookings, view tickets, find showtimes, and access current deals. It often features exclusive in-app offers, so having it installed ensures you won’t miss savings or last-minute specials when planning your cinema trips.
The Cinebuzz membership is free to join and rewards you with points for every ticket purchased. Members can enjoy up to 50% off select days, 10% off snacks and drinks, free tickets redeemed with points, access to early screenings, and special deals for families, students, and seniors. Your membership is for life unless cancelled by yourself or program operators.
Cinebuzz Rewards also has a VIP tier, which you can achieve by attending 12 eligible movies in a rolling 12-month period. Based on our research, VIP members get all standard benefits plus exclusive offers such as bottomless popcorn and VIP-only promotions.
If you want the senior discount at Event Cinemas, you need to be 60 or older and have a Senior Card. They will ask for proof before you enter the cinema, so it is worth having it ready.
For extra value, we suggest checking Cinebuzz for Seniors. Cinebuzz for Seniors includes $13.00 original tickets, saving you up to 37%, and $27.50 Gold Class tickets, saving you up to 44%. These tickets are valid Monday to Friday before 5 pm and may also include access to dedicated seniors screenings.
