Uber One costs $9.99 a month or $96 a year in Australia. On Uber Eats, it gives you a $0 delivery fee and a reduced service fee (up to 30% off) on eligible orders at stores showing the Uber One icon, plus member-only offers.

• Your cart needs at least $20 from a participating restaurant, or $40 from an eligible grocery or other store, and fees don't count towards either figure.

• Priority and Long Range fees are still charged, and a small order fee may apply to some orders.

Points can take up to six weeks to arrive after a completed order.

Pickup orders, orders delivered by the restaurant's own couriers and orders from Grocery, Alcohol or Retail stores don't earn, so a weekly Coles order adds nothing. Points are worked out on what you pay after fees and discounts, excluding tips, so a big promo shrinks your points along with your bill. Treat the points as a bonus on restaurant delivery you'd order anyway, not a reason to choose delivery over a cheaper pickup.

Three fees can appear on an Uber Eats delivery order.

• The delivery fee varies by store, based on your location and how many delivery people are nearby, and it can be higher when demand is high. You see it before you choose a store.

• The service fee is a percentage of your order subtotal, with a minimum and a maximum, and it is worked out before any promotions or discounts come off.

• A small order fee can apply when your subtotal is below a set amount, and adding more items removes it.

Because the service fee is charged on the full subtotal, an Uber Eats code cuts the food cost but not that fee, so a $0 delivery fee or a cheaper delivery store often saves more than it first appears. On a very small basket, adding an item you'd buy anyway can cost less than paying the small order fee for nothing. Every charge shows together only in the checkout fee breakdown, so check it before you place the order.

Select Pickup instead of delivery and you collect the order yourself, so there is no delivery fee to pay. You can also order ahead and skip the queue when you arrive. Not every store offers it, since each merchant decides whether to switch Pickup on.

Pickup pays best at places on your way home, where the saving costs you no extra time. Other fees may still apply, so check the checkout summary before you confirm.

Some restaurants and stores run their own loyalty program inside Uber Eats. Each merchant sets the rules, usually a reward once you spend a set amount or place a set number of orders above a minimum order size. Some restaurants also send a reorder reward after you buy, a thank you discount on your next order that stays visible for a limited time and applies at checkout much like an Uber Eats code.

These rewards pay best on the takeaway you already order every week. Five orders spread across five burger places earn nothing, while five at one place can unlock a reward. Check the expiry as soon as a reward appears, and make sure each order clears the store's minimum so it counts towards your progress.

Your personal invite code sits under the invite friends option in the app's Account menu. When a friend places their first order with your Uber Eats code, a promo is added to your account for your current or next order, and it expires after three months if unused.

Plan a bigger order inside that window and select the referral promo yourself at checkout, so the credit isn't spent on a small order you'd have paid for anyway.

New Uber Eats accounts usually get the biggest one-off discount on the platform. It is valid only on the first order (or the first couple of orders with some offers), with a minimum spend usually measured on the food subtotal, excluding fees. Add the code to your account before you build your cart, then plan a first order that comfortably clears the minimum, such as a family dinner or a pantry restock.

Don't waste it on a coffee run. Value left on a promo is lost rather than carried over, so a fixed dollar discount works hardest on a bigger order. New account offers don't last long, so check the expiry as soon as the code appears in your Promotions list.

Verified students pay $6.99 a month or $36 a year for Uber One for Students, instead of $9.99 or $96, with the same $0 delivery fee and reduced service fee on eligible orders. Uber checks eligibility through SheerID.

The UNiDAYS deal is worth up to $40 across two orders, so it usually beats the single $10 Uber Eats discount code.

On the annual plan, $36 upfront saves $47.88 against twelve monthly payments of $6.99, as long as you'll keep studying and ordering all year. If you only order a few times a term, stay monthly and cancel over the long break.

Uber One Member Days is the biggest recurring sale on Uber Eats. It usually runs for about a week to ten days in mid to late May, with member-only restaurant, grocery and ride offers dropping daily in the app. If you're thinking about joining Uber One, start just before Member Days so you get the whole lineup.
