The best way to save on Aussie Broadband is by applying a new customer promo to a selected NBN plan at sign-up. These introductory offers usually take a set amount off your monthly bill for the first 6 months, but switching to a plan type the promotion doesn't cover ends the discount straight away.

That up to $150 off over 6 months is the main thing we'd watch here, especially if you're moving onto a selected internet plan or upgrading. The catch is simple: referral credit and promo savings don't combine for new customers, so we'd take the bigger upfront saving first. Our tip is to check again in November, when Spring Deals show up.

New customer deals here usually come as a monthly discount for the first six months on selected NBN plans, and some also cover existing customers who upgrade. The discount comes off each bill automatically, and with no lock-in contract you're free to reassess once the promo period ends.

Pick your speed tier carefully before you apply the code, because dropping to an unsupported plan halfway through costs you the remaining months. Based on our research, a six-month promo usually beats the one-off $50 referral credit, so take the promo when both are on offer.
Seniors plans are open to customers aged 60 and over, and each one includes a home phone in the monthly price, so there's no separate landline bill. Plans start from $50 a month for 100GB with casual calls, and the top plan adds unlimited local, interstate and mobile calls. None of them has a lock-in contract, but they aren't available on every NBN connection type.
All three run at NBN 12/1 speeds, which suits one or two people browsing, emailing and video calling. Casual calls to mobiles are charged at 22c a minute, so if you ring family on their mobiles most days, the unlimited calls plan is usually the better buy. An Aussie Broadband promo code doesn't normally apply to 12/1 plans, so the seniors pricing is the saving here rather than something to stack.
Once your own service is active, you can get a referral code from your account and share it with friends. Credit lands as soon as their service activates and comes off your next bill.
A residential NBN referral gives you $50 credit and your friend $50.
A business NBN referral gives the referrer $100 and the new customer $50.
There's no cap on how many people you refer, as long as they know you get a benefit from your code. Your friend has to enter it at checkout or quote it on the phone when signing up, because it can't be added later.
For your friend, a referral credit replaces any promo discount. That makes referrals strongest when no promo covers the plan they want, or when they're choosing a speed tier the current deals leave out.
Homes on Fibre to the Node or Fibre to the Curb may qualify for the NBN full fibre (FTTP) upgrade, also called Fibre Connect, with $0 standard installation. You need to sign up to an eligible high-speed plan, and the plan change only kicks in once the fibre connection is active, so you don't pay the higher price while you wait. Renters need permission from their landlord or agent, and extra external costs can apply in some cases.
It's the biggest speed jump you can get without paying for installation, and with no lock-in you aren't stuck if the faster plan turns out to be more than you need. Run your address through the eligibility checker before choosing a plan, so the speed you sign up for is one your new connection can deliver.
Pro plans pair unlimited data with much faster uploads and a free static IP, and most tiers need an FTTP connection. The Ultrafast Pro plan lists typical evening downloads of 875Mbps.
The standard Ultrafast Fibre plan lists the same typical evening download speed for less each month, so the extra cost of Pro mainly buys upload speed. That's money well spent if you live stream or send large video files every day. For gaming, Netflix and video calls, the standard plan gives you the same downloads at a lower price.
Adding a 5G mobile SIM to the same account as your NBN or Opticomm plan takes $5 a month off each SIM, for up to five services. It applies automatically, but it doesn't stack with a SIM promo and only starts once that promo ends. Older 4G legacy plans don't qualify, so move them to a 5G plan in the MyAussie app first.
For a household with four SIMs, that's $20 a month back without anyone changing how they use their phone.
None of the NBN plans has a lock-in contract, so you can change speed or leave without paying out the rest of a term. Once your promo period ends, look at how your household actually uses the connection. Dropping a speed tier is often the easiest ongoing saving if nobody notices the difference, and you can move back up if you need the speed again.
Standard NBN connections don't attract a setup fee, so your first bill is just the plan price. Homes in new developments or those needing a new line can face a charge set by NBN, which shows up during sign-up before anything is billed.
If you're moving into a new estate, factor that charge in when weighing up an Aussie Broadband coupon, since it can eat into the first months of savings.
