Joining is free, and every 400 points converts automatically into a $5 voucher you can spend online. Unlike a Priceline promo code, each voucher is sent to you by email or SMS and lasts three months.
Your earn rate depends on what you've spent over a rolling 12 months.
Explorer members, spending up to $399, earn 1 point per dollar.
Insider members, from $400, earn 2 points per dollar.
VIP members, from $800, earn 3 points per dollar.
Explorer points expire 12 months after they're credited, while Insider and VIP points don't. Gift cards and prescription only medicines earn nothing.
The $400 mark is the one to watch. Crossing it doubles your earn rate and stops your balance expiring, so bringing a planned restock forward to clear it is worth more than most one-off offers.
Standard delivery is a flat $9.95, but it's free on orders over $60 when you're logged in to Pulse Rewards. Sign in before you start adding items, so both the free delivery threshold and your points apply to the order.
Metro orders usually arrive in 3 to 5 business days, or 4 to 6 in WA. Fast Delivery costs $14.95 and brings orders placed before 11am on a weekday the same day, but only within 10km of a participating store. It's worth paying for an urgent item, not a routine restock.
OnePass members get free standard delivery with no minimum spend once their membership is linked to Pulse Rewards. At $4 a month or $40 a year, it pays for itself with just one small order a month that would otherwise cost $9.95 to ship.
It doesn't cover Fast Delivery, and some products and remote postcodes miss out on free shipping.
Click & Collect costs nothing. Orders placed before 4pm are usually ready within two trading hours, and stores hold them for up to 14 days.
For a top-up order under $60 without OnePass, it's the cheapest route, and any Priceline code you use then comes straight off your products instead of covering postage.
Priceline runs bonus points promotions, such as double points on selected products, and the multiplier scales with your tier. A VIP member who normally earns 3 points per dollar earns 6 during a double points event.
Bonus points don't count towards tier spend, so they bring your next voucher closer without lifting you to a higher level.
Pulse Rewards members can pick up free goodie bags by reaching a spend threshold or buying from a participating brand or category. Online, the order only counts if you're logged in when you place it.
For a birthday offer, add your date of birth to your account and opt in to marketing emails. When a goodie bag threshold sits just above your cart, topping up with something you'd buy next month anyway gets you the bag at no real extra cost.
Afterpay, Zip and PayPal are all accepted at checkout, so you can split a larger order into instalments. This suits planned buys like a season's worth of sunscreen picked up during a sale. Pay each instalment on time, though, because a late fee from any of these providers can wipe out the discount you were chasing.
