From my research, reviewing products you’ve already bought is an easy way to add points. Each approved review of a Sephora purchase earns five Beauty Pass points, as long as you’re signed in when you post it. It’s small, but a few reviews after every haul add up towards your next reward.
Sephora opened its first Australian store at Westfield Sydney in Pitt Street Mall in December 2014 and now has more than 30 stores across Australia and New Zealand, plus its online store. It sells makeup, skincare, fragrance and haircare from global and indie brands.
Many of those brands, such as Rare Beauty, Fenty Beauty and Tarte, are sold here as Sephora exclusives. That means you usually can’t shop around for a lower price elsewhere, so your savings come from Sephora’s own offers instead, such as gift-with-purchase deals and Beauty Pass rewards. Its own label, Sephora Collection, is also worth checking for everyday basics.

Beauty Pass is free to join and earns 1 point per dollar spent online, in the app and in store. Shipping and gift card purchases don’t earn points. You spend points in the Rewards Boutique, where the line-up changes monthly and stock is limited, and on a 10% off reward you can redeem as often as you qualify.
Points expire 12 months after the month you earned them, so a small balance can quietly vanish. Based on our research, the 10% off reward is the most dependable use for points because it doesn’t sell out like the product rewards. Save it for a full-price order on a day when no Sephora promo code beats it.
Everyone starts at White. Spending $300 within 12 months of joining moves you to Black, and $1,500 within 12 months of reaching Black lifts you to Gold. Each tier lasts 12 months, and you need to hit that spend again to keep it. New Black and Gold members also get a welcome reward, which must be claimed within one month of qualifying.
If you’re close to the line as your 12 months run out, bringing a planned restock forward costs less than dropping a tier and climbing back.
Every tier gets a birthday gift. Online you add it to any purchase under Beauty Pass Offers at checkout, and in store you can claim it with no purchase. Black and Gold members get a wider choice of gifts, and the gift has to be used within your birthday month.
You also earn double points on your first purchase in your birthday month. Make sure your birthday is saved in your account well ahead, then line up your biggest planned order of the year for that month so the double points and the gift land on the same basket.
Standard Post is free on orders of $25 or more and costs $6 below that. Express Parcel costs $16 under $25, $10 from $25 to $75, and is free over $75. Orders with dangerous goods can’t go express.
The $25 is measured after discounts, so a Sephora discount code can push a small basket under the line and bring the fee back. Express is the bigger trap. On a $70 order, for example, you’d pay $10 for speed, while adding a $6 item you’d buy anyway gets it delivered free and fast. Standard takes two to three business days to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane but up to 13 to WA, TAS and NT, which is where free express earns its keep.
Click & Collect has no fee, which helps on small orders under the $25 delivery threshold. Two things don’t come with it. Gifts with purchase that are online or app only aren’t available, and Beauty Pass reward products can’t be collected this way.
It’s the cheaper choice for a quick top-up of one or two items. If your order qualifies for an online gift, home delivery gets you more for the same spend.
The Sale section carries deep markdowns, often half price, on selected makeup, skincare, fragrance and hair products. Many badges say selected shades, sizes or types only, so the shade in your bag may be full price even when the product shows a discount.
Sephora also runs sitewide member sale events where you need to sign up or sign in to shop the offer. These events suit a big restock of favourites that rarely get marked down, while the Sale section is better for trying something new at a lower risk.
Voucher terms often rule out using a code alongside other discounts, promotions or a loyalty reward redemption, and the 10% off reward may not combine with other promotions either. That means picking the bigger saving rather than stacking. A code worth more than 10% beats the reward, while on a marked-down item the sale price alone is often the best deal.
Sephora covers the cost of returns. To return an online order, use the contact form with your order number, the item, your reason and a photo, and the team sends the next steps. Refunds go to your original payment method.
Change of mind items must be unopened, unused and unmarked.
Sets and multi-item packs go back as a whole.
Online orders can be exchanged in store for another product or a gift card, but not refunded there.
Opened products can’t go back for change of mind, so test a new shade or formula with a sample or mini before buying the full size.
Product tiles marked “Get a Gift” come with a bonus item, often on selected shades or types only. When two products do the same job, the one with a gift gives you more for the same spend. Make sure your exact shade or size carries the tag before you add it. On a small order, a gift can be worth more than a Sephora coupon, since the bonus item often carries a higher value than a modest percentage off.
Some products carry a bundle tag that takes a percentage off when you buy them together. Bundles work best for products you’ll use up anyway, such as a cleanser and moisturiser from the same range. A bundle you won’t finish isn’t a saving, however good the percentage looks.
Signing up for Beauty Pass through the Sephora app adds 90 bonus points, made up of 50 for creating an account and 40 for downloading the app. Completing your Beauty Profile adds another 50. That’s 140 points before your first order, a head start towards a reward. The app also lists app-only products and offers.
