Every Koala mattress ships free anywhere in Australia, and small items such as bedding, linen, cushions and throws also ship free when you choose standard delivery. The bigger perk is the metro rule. If you live in metro Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth, any order that includes a mattress gets free standard delivery on the full order.

That makes it worth planning what goes into one cart. In our metro checkout tests, standard delivery for a modular sofa on its own came to $85. Add a mattress to the same order, and that fee disappears, so if you need both, buying them together keeps $85 in your pocket. Because delivery is already free, any discount code you use comes straight off the price of the mattress itself.

Order before 3 pm on a weekday, and metro shoppers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth can get same-day delivery. It only applies when your product is in stock and not on presale, so treat it as a bonus rather than something to plan around. Regional and rural orders take longer, up to 15 business days, and the closer you are to a Koala fulfilment centre, the sooner your order arrives.

Entering your address at checkout shows every delivery option and its price before you pay anything. If plans change, log in to your account to update the delivery date, time, address or contact details before the order ships. Outside metro areas, the free mattress delivery doesn't extend to the rest of the order, and regional deliveries are charged per item, so each extra bulky piece adds its own freight to the total.

Standard delivery leaves your order at the front door. Room service carries large items such as sofa beds and big mattresses to the room you choose, and it runs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Premium service adds assembly of all furniture and mattress items plus removal of packaging for recycling in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. It doesn't take away your old furniture.

Saturday delivery adds a flat $70 to standard delivery and isn't offered with premium service. For a single sofa in our metro checkout tests, standard delivery was $85, Saturday $155, room of choice $110, and premium $245. The free delivery that comes with a mattress covers standard delivery only, and different rates apply to premium. Since many Koala pieces use tool-free assembly, the $160 gap between standard and premium is money you can keep if you're happy to carry boxes and build the piece yourself.

The 120-day trial starts the day your product arrives, with nothing to activate. It applies to any products. You pay in full at checkout, and if the item isn't right, you can return it within 120 days for a full refund of the purchase price. Delivery fees are excluded from that refund, which is why the trial costs nothing to use on a mattress but can cost you the delivery fee on a sofa.

The trial covers the original purchaser only, so a Koala bought secondhand can't be returned. Reasonable wear is fine, but returns must be free of significant damage. Free or bonus items from a promotion aren't covered, and if you return a product bought under an offer, you only get back what you paid, and any bonus item goes back too. That matters if you bought with a discount code, because your refund reflects the discounted price, not the full price.

Mattresses, bed bases and sofas are picked up free in metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth. Outside those areas, return shipping isn't covered, so you drop the item at a Koala fulfilment centre in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth. Pillows, sheets and homewares get a free return label, though rugs aren't included.

To start a return, contact customer service with your name, order number, product and reason. Fold a mattress in half or take furniture apart, wrap it in plastic, and attach your order number. The refund is issued within 5 to 7 business days of the return reaching the warehouse, and can take 3 to 5 business days to show on your payment method. Based on our research, returns run smoothly, but for regional buyers, the drive to a fulfilment centre is the real cost of changing your mind.

Koala's warranty covers repair or replacement when a product has a manufacturing or material defect, and the length depends on what you buy.

Some spare parts are kept for 12 months after a product is discontinued, so a replacement part can cost far less than a new piece. A 10-year mattress claim is only as strong as the proof of purchase you can still find years later, so keep your order email somewhere safe.

New customers who join Koala's email list receive a welcome code by email. Depending on the offer, it's either a percentage discount or a dollar saving on the first order placed on the website; usually, you will get 10% off. A dollar saving only applies when the eligible cart value is $1,000 or more, while a percentage discount is capped at $3,000.

The offer is for shoppers who have never bought from the brand, and it can be used once. Bundles, clearance products, delivery, assembly, and gift cards are all excluded, and the code can't be combined with a sale or any other offer. Before you apply a Koala discount code from the welcome email, check whether a current sale price beats it, because you can only have one.

Your friend who is an existing customer receives a $100 Prezzee gift card once you keep your order for more than 120 days, with a limit of 10 rewards per referrer. The referral discount can't be combined with any other promotion or discount code, and it can't be added to an order you've already placed.

The maths decides which offer to use. On a $1,500 sofa order, a 10% sign-up code saves $150, while the referral saves $200. The two break even at $2,000, so the referral wins on orders between $750 and $2,000, and the 10% code only pulls ahead above that.

Koala's clearance collection marks down selected sofa beds, mattresses and homewares, often previous generations of popular designs that have since been updated. The discount varies by item and changes as stock sells, and sizes and colours are limited, so if a particular fabric or size matters to you, buy when you see it rather than waiting for a deeper cut.

Clearance prices are as low as they go. Clearance products are excluded from the email and SMS sign-up codes, and recent sitewide sale terms have excluded them too, so no promo code will lower them further. That's fine when the markdown is already bigger than any code, but compare the clearance price with the newer model on sale before you choose the older version.

Products returned during the 120-day trial are cleaned and assessed, then donated, recycled, or refurbished for Koala Second Home, alongside samples and discontinued stock. Prices sit at 30% to 70% off RRP. Second Home is based in Campbelltown in Sydney, but you don't have to browse in person. Stock changes daily and can't be held; there are no change-of-mind returns, and condition varies, with some items showing minor marks. The warranty is shorter too, at 2 years for large furniture including mattresses and 6 months for homewares and accessories. For a Sydney buyer who can live with a scuff, that's a steep saving on the same design, but anyone who wants the 120-day trial should buy new.

Big price drops tend to cluster around a handful of events. Based on our research, Koala usually joins the Friday Sale and Cyber Monday in late November, with discounts often starting from mid-November, and it has also run sales around Afterpay Day in March, EOFY in June, and Boxing Day. Its own sitewide sales land between those events too, and the promotion terms page lists current offers and their end dates.

Sale discounts are usually applied automatically and can't be combined with a discount code, so the job is to pick the better of the two rather than stack them. On very rare occasions, you can find a discount code that is stackable with existing promos, though from our experience, it usually lasts for one or two days.

Koala sells bedroom and living room bundles, labelled "Bundle & save", that group pieces designed to go together at a lower combined price. If you need several items anyway, a bundle can beat buying them one at a time.
